Trampoline Cover – Where To Buy One?

As winter comes around and the weather starts to change from the summer season you may be thinking of buying a trampoline cover. Trampoline covers protect your trampoline when it’s not in use and ensures that it stays in good condition for years to come. You can buy one from any of the retailers we have listed below.

While a trampoline cover is not nessecary it is advisable. There are quite a few benefits to having one. So what are they?

If you’re in a rush I recommend the Zero Gravity Ultima Trampoline Cover. It’s made from 180 gsm and 50% thicker than the standard trampoline cover without any additional price increase. Each size will fit each appropriate trampoline and is available from 6ft Trampolines to 14ft Trampolines – Even if you have an ASDA, ARGOS, TESCO, ALDI, PLUM, SPORTSPOWER or JUMPKING Trampoline these could be suitable. It has drainage holes and looks great.

Why buy a trampoline cover?

I talk a lot about what trampoline is the best on this website and outdoor trampolines can range in cost from £90 for small outdoor trampolines up to £2000 for large specialised outdoor tramps. With you spending that much money on a trampoline don’t you want it to last a long time? Here are my reasons for buying a trampoline cover.

  • Protects mat from rain and snow.
  • Protects mat from the sun (This can fade the colour of your mat).
  • Protects the trampoline from bird poo and droppings.
  • Protects mat from animals that may jump onto the trampoline.
  • Keeps the springs and mat covered and protects from corrosion and rust.
  • Tells the children that today’s not a good day to use the trampoline.

So there are a number of reasons why you should protect your trampoline when it’s either not in use or during the winter months. Some trampolines have packages that include one but usually, it’s an additional purchase but should not set you back a lot of money.

What Trampoline Covers are available?

You can buy a trampoline cover for pretty much any trampoline that’s on the market today. It doesn’t have to be the same manufacturer that your trampoline is from or the same retailer for that matter. It pays to shop around and make an informed decision. There are some things you should consider although.

What size is your trampoline?

There’s no point in buying a cover that’s 12ft when you own an 8ft trampoline. It’s not going to be secured down correctly and may cause more damage to property and the trampoline, for example, if a gust of wind were to catch it. So avoid this.

If you are unsure of your trampoline size then I’ve written a guide on how to measure your trampoline. It will tell you the trampoline size if you follow the instructions.

What shape is your trampoline?

Again, the round trampoline cover is not going to be a suitable fit for a rectangular trampoline or an oval trampoline. So you need to ensure that the shape of it matches your trampoline. There really is only a few shapes so it shouldn’t be that hard. Any questions just ask away!

Can I use a trampoline cover when I have my trampoline enclosure up?

In most cases, you’re going to have to take down or lower your trampoline enclosure to be able to put a trampoline cover on. In the winter months, this is not a problem as a trampoline will not get used every day but in the summer it might prove troublesome and time-consuming. Take down your net enclosure and store it in an organised spot to make sure you don’t lose any nuts or screws as that can be an added pain when you come to put the enclosure back up.

In the meantime let’s have a look at the different types that you may be interested in.

Trampoline Covers by Size

Once you’ve managed to figure out what size of trampoline cover you’re looking for then it should be an easy task to find the most cost effective cover that you need. Take a look at the covers sorted by size.

6ft Trampoline Cover

A 6ft trampoline cover will need to be at least 183 cm of 1.83 m in diameter to fit your trampoline. That’s the diameter of the whole structure including jumping mat, padding and steel frame. This size cover will protect any trampoline from the rain and wind so what kind of covers for a 6ft trampoline have I managed to find.

Zero Gravity Ultima 6ft Trampoline Cover

This 6ft Trampoline Cover although branded as a Zero Gravity Ultima Cover will fit any 6ft trampoline. It has clips on the bottom that simply attach around to the underneath part of the frame. This trampoline cover is available in a range of trampoline sizes.

So tell me a bit about the Zero Gravity Ultima trampoline cover. Well, it’s Made from hard-wearing material 180 gsm that’s up to 50% thicker than the standard budget covers that you can buy at the same price. Zero Gravity is a reputable trampoline brand and this cover meets their rigorous standards with elasticated straps that promise not to stretch too far and tear. A problem with some cheap trampoline covers. It keeps your trampoline protected from harmful UV rays and if you have a Zero Gravity trampoline with foldable enclosure you just simply need to fold it down and put the cover on. If you don’t have a foldable enclosure then it will need to be removed and stored to put it on.

This cover for the trampoline has drain holes in the centre to allow rainwater to drain through which stops rain collecting and pools forming with can make your trampoline springs stretch which is not good for your trampoline especially over extended periods of time.

You will need to remove any net enclosure you have attached to the trampoline for this cover to be put on. The straps and clips attach to the underneath of the trampoline to ensure it provides year-round protection.

There is no drainage hole with this trampoline cover so it is going to pool the water on top but we have a trick for that further down the page.

8ft Trampoline Cover

An 8ft trampoline cover will need to be at least 244 cm or 2.44 m in diameter to fit your trampoline. It will need to be at least this size as 8ft trampolines can vary in diameters by a few cms with the largest 8ft trampoline diameter I’ve found is 244 cm.

The Zero Gravity Ultima 8ft trampoline cover is the same as the previously mentioned 6ft sized cover but is obviously made bigger in order to fit a larger trampoline such as the 8ft trampoline. It has the best features of any trampoline cover and with the ability to fit on any trampoline it’s definitely a winner in my book. Made from thicker material than standard trampoline cover and with anti-tear material being used throughout it is sure to last a long time and keep your trampoline safe during the winter months.

The drainage hold in the centre of the trampoline ensures that pooling on the trampoline is kept to a minimum and won’t put pressure on the springs. Continuous pressure on the springs of a trampoline wears your trampoline out a lot faster and should be avoided. That’s why it’s always important not to leave anything heavy on the trampoline when it’s not in use. This stretch can cause unnecessary wear to the trampoline which may cause it to snap or break.

How To Stop Water From Pooling On Your Trampoline Cover

If you’ve recently purchased a cover or are thinking about it, pooling water can be a nuisance but there is an easy fix to eliminate the problem. Even with drainage holes on your cover water can unfortunately still pool and cause stress to your trampoline and the springs. How can you stop this?

Well to avoid the pooling problem on a trampoline with a cover on it, you can simply put something light on the trampoline mat under the trampoline cover that will cause the middle to stay risen and the water will just slide off the trampoline.

Make sure that the object, like an empty cardboard box, is light and won’t stress the trampoline springs out more than a pool of water will.
